January, 10, 2022

McMaster undergraduates, graduates, alumni, faculty, and staff,

We are thrilled to invite you to join us on January 10th, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for our next “In Conversation with Wayne Purboo, moderated by Keenan Jeppesen”.   Troubled by the pervasive incidences of police brutality and racial injustice and the murder of George Floyd, Wayne Purboo and his wife Nigela have been working to break down systemic barriers for Black students and recent graduates via their founding of the Onyx Initiative.

Wayne Purboo is a proud McMaster University alumnus with 25+ years of experience as a serial entrepreneur in the media and telecom industries. With a range of expertise in software development, systems engineering, sales, product, finance, and management. Wayne played significant roles in creating over $2B CDN in value across three start-ups and has acquired extensive experience in growing all aspects of technology companies.

We are excited that the discussion will be moderated by Keenan Jeppesen, McMaster’s new Associate Director, High Performance for the Department of Athletics & Recreation.

Keenan is a graduate of Brown University with a B.A. in Economics and earned his MBA from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. Keenan most recently served as the Director of Outreach for the Onyx Initiative and was formerly the Director of Basketball Operations at McMaster and an Assistant Coach for the Marauders men’s basketball team.
