Wilson Leadership Scholar Award Info Session

December, 08, 2022 @ 03:30 PM

It is often easier to ‘write ourselves out’ of these opportunities because they seem intimidating or you wonder if you are a leader, or perhaps you are too busy to apply, caught up with exams etc.?

We miss 100% of the shots that we do not take.

The Wilson Leadership Scholar Award is a leadership development and career launcher program preparing students to serve as Canada’s next generation of leaders. Wilson Leaders commit 15 hours per month to meet with mentors and experts, taking on new experiences, building on current interests, and pursuing personal and professional goals. The Wilson Leadership Scholar Award (WLSA) is a career-launching opportunity worth $12,000 in direct funding and up to $2,000 in experiential funding. In addition to the financial reward, WLSA recipients get to join a tight-knit community of inspiring change-makers, learn from mentors and guest leaders, develop skills and work on projects related to topics of national importance.

The WLSA is open to all leadership styles, including new and aspiring leaders. We all start somewhere, and you might be more of a leader than you think. So keep your momentum going by applying for the WLSA.

If you’re interested in this award and meet the eligibility criteria, the undergraduate and graduate streams should appear on your AwardSpring dashboard. If it does not, or if only one of the streams appears, please get in touch with awards@mcmaster.ca with the subject line “Graduate or Undergraduate WLSA”. Be sure to include your full name and student number in the body of the email.

Join the BSSC for an info session led by Wilson Leader Anuoluwa Popoola; the session will take place December 8th from 3:30 to 5 pm in the BSSC Lounge.
