
High-School Tutoring and Mentoring Program
This program helps students develop academic confidence while building meaningful mentorship relationships with Black university students. Black high school students in Grades 11 and 12 are paired with McMaster student mentors who provide:
- Tutoring in key subjects
- Guidance on time management and study skills
- University application and scholarship support
- Insight into campus life and career pathways

Faculty Information Sessions (Virtual)
As you progress through high school and explore your university options, the BSSC offers exclusive Faculty Information Sessions designed specifically for Black-identifying students. These sessions bring you inside McMaster’s Faculties and departments, with the goal of helping you make informed decisions and confidently enter your academic journey.

NextGen: Black High School Leadership Summit
The NextGen Summit is the BSSC’s signature leadership development experience for Black high school students in Grades 11 and 12. Designed and delivered by Black staff and faculty at McMaster — and supported through community and industry partners — this annual conference prepares emerging Black leaders with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to thrive in their transition to university and beyond.

Day in the Life at McMaster: High School Experience
The Day in the Life experience invites Black high school students to spend a full day on campus exploring what life as a McMaster student truly feels like. Participants attend sample lectures, tour academic spaces, visit the Black Student Success Centre, meet current Black students and faculty and learn how to navigate university life.
